Election Of Mr. Bhathiya Bulumulla, As The Chairman Of The Planters Association Of Ceylon

Elpitiya Plantations PLC take pride in the appointment of its Director/Chief Executive Officer Mr. Bhathiya Bulumulla, as the Chairman of the Planters Association of Ceylon (PA) at the 166th Annual General Meeting held at the BMICH on 18 September 2020.
The Planters’ Association of Ceylon [PA], is one of the oldest existing organizations from Sri Lanka’s colonial past with over 150 years history and remains the apex representative body of Sri Lanka’s plantation industry.
Mr. Bulumulla has been associating with PA for the past several years and prior to his election as the Chairman, he served in the capacity of Deputy Chairman and represented the PA at the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon as the Chairman of the Planters Services Group. He is also a honorary member of the Board of Directors of the Plantation Human Development Trust.
Mr. Bhathiya Bulumulla, possesses over 34 years of experience in the Plantation Sector out of which for the past 21 years. He is serving at Elpitiya Plantations PLC. He is currently the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Elpitiya Plantations PLC, Managing Director of Elpitiya Dianhong Jin Ya Tea Company (PVT) Limited, Director of Aitken Spence Plantation Managements PLC, Director of EPP Hydro Power (Pvt) Limited.
In his inaugural speech as the Chairman of the PA, he stated that his vision is to find an immediate and sustainable solutions to the impending Plantation Workers’ wages by providing significantly stronger incentive based wage model allied to productivity and to work closely with the new Government on lifting the ban imposed on cultivation of Oil Palm cultivation, He also stressed the need that Plantation Industry should accelerate mechanization of agricultural works to meet the acute shortage of workers and to embrace new digital technology to improve the quality and speed of decision making to make the Plantation Industry more agile, resilient and better able to navigate in an often constrained and increasingly competitive global market.
