Elpitiya Plantations PLC is one of Sri Lanka’s leading producers of the most exquisite high quality premium teas. It consists of 11 tea estates with 13 well equipped factories located in Up, Mid and Low country regions, which cover more than 2,100 hectares.
The Pundalu Oya valley is a miracle of nature, on one side nestled with amidst forest reserves at elevation of over 4000 ft above sea level whilst the other side is bordered with verdant mountains shrouded in mist. The tea produced in these 4 estates, viz; Dunsinane, Sheen, Fernlands & Maddecoombra Estates speak for itself in supremacy of ‘ Dimbulla Quality ‘ in the Nuwara Eliya Belt. During the dry periods from January to Mid March, there is heavy mountain winds blowing & this situation gives rise to the flavoury seasonal teas, known as ‘Dimbulla Quality‘. This special quality attracts many international fastidious buyers. Thus the Pundalu Oya Valley is known as ‘Golden Valley ‘as it is known to rejuvenate these golden green tea plants.
